Abigail is a guest character who appeared in the Season 1 episode of Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist "Zoey's Extraordinary Silence." She is the daughter of Howie, Mitch's caretaker. She studies computer science at the University of California, Berkeley.
She was portrayed by Sandra Mae Frank.
Biography[]
After Zoey hears Mitch and Howie singing "The Sound Of Silence," she asks Mitch if Howie is having any problems with anyone. Mitch reveals to Zoey that Howie has a daughter. Zoey asks Howie about his daughter, and Howie tells Zoey that they have not talked in a while. Later, when Zoey visits UC Berkeley with Howie, she finds out that Abigail is deaf. When Abigail sees her father enter her dorm, she hugs him awkwardly. Zoey compliments Abigail's shirt, which has a graphic of mathematician Ada Lovelace on it. Abigail expresses interest in Zoey's work at SPRQ Point, and Zoey suggests that she apply for an internship. Abigail says that she will apply after she returns from Kenya, which shocks Howie. Abigail and Howie quarrel over Abigail's trip until Abigail starts signing "Fight Song" along with other students in her dorm, expressing her frustration at being coddled by her father. After the song ends, Howie tries to talk to Abigail, but she walks away angrily. Later, Zoey sees Abigail at SPRQ Point signing with Tobin. Tobin acts as an interpreter while Zoey and Abigail discuss Howie's intentions. Later, Abigail and Howie discuss Abigail's trip to Kenya at the Clarke home, apparently having come to an understanding.

Abigail and her father, Howie, initially have a strained relationship. Howie is hesitant to give Abigail much freedom because she is deaf, and his overprotective nature upsets and alienates Abigail. When Zoey first asks Howie about Abigail, Howie reveals that they have not talked since fighting a few months prior.
